Program Description
At CAPE, we are driven by an unrelenting focus on improving human and system performance for the benefit of our patients.
Delivering resuscitation care to a neonate requires healthcare practitioners to simultaneously manage a complex series of skills and events often under intense time pressure and with potentially little hands-on training. To be successful, healthcare practitioners must assimilate and apply content knowledge and provide technical resuscitation skills while engaging in critical behavioral skills including leadership, communication and teamwork. This program will move beyond the traditional passive model of neonatal resuscitation education. Through immersion in intense, dynamic and complex simulation scenarios and constructive video debriefings, attendees will practice key cognitive, technical and behavioral skills necessary to achieve optimal performance in unpredictable neonatal emergencies. The program will highlight behavioral team-based training by focusing on active decision-making, efficient communication and effective crisis management. The curriculum will synthesize the updated 2016 NRP guidelines.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
* Utilize updated 2010 Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) guidelines and algorithm when managing care of the neonate.
* Practice and perform a variety of hands-on resuscitation skills while demonstrating accurate knowledge of NRP guidelines.
* Utilize effective communication skills including thinking out loud and closed loop communication during neonatal resuscitation to maximize delivery of care to the neonate.
* Develop strategies to work effectively in a team to assess the neonatal emergencies and respond in a timely, clinically appropriate manner based on best practice principles for the safety and care of the neonate.

Tuition may be paid by credit card via phone or check payable to Stanford University and is due upon confirmation of registration.
This program is limited to 8 attendees in order to maximize opportunities for hands-on practice and active learning.
CANCELLATION
A written notice of cancellation must be received 60 days prior to start of this program. A $75 administrative fee will be assessed at this time.
30-59 days: 50% of paid registration is refundable.
30 days or less: Non-refundable.
